Real Time Audio Processing – Content

Goals

  • Consolidation and application of your knowledge in digital signal processing
  • Development of a real-type prototype of an audio processing algorithm of your own choice

Laboratory program

  • 4 sessions with predefined exercises:
    • MATLAB tools, sampling and quantisation
    • Discrete Fourier-Transform
    • Digitale Filters (FIR/IIR)
    • C++, Qt, real-time processing system RTProc
  • Projectphase:
8 sessions for implementation of a small project in the field of real time processing of speech or audio signals.
    Examples are:
    • MP3-Decoder
    • GSM-Speechcoder
    • Dolby-Surround-Decoder
    • Audio-Equalizer
    • Pitch-Shifter
    • Spacial speaker detection with multiple micorphones
    • Noisereduction
    • Vocoder
    • ADPCM-Codec
  • You work in groups with 2 students each

Working environment

  • PC-System (Windows)
  • Signal processing software MATLAB/Simulink
  • Visual Studio for C++ programming (including Qt)
  • Real-time processing system RTProc
  • External sound cards
  • CD/DVD player, microphones etc.
